Freedom to travel seems to fit in with our family. This year our summer holiday takes us to the South of France, and yet again we just like to wing it and see where we end up. We booked a camper from a local family in Bergerac, who very kindly agreed to meet us at the airport with their beautiful camper that we have the pleasure of renting for the week. What beauty. A week just doesn’t seem long enough, but here we are on day 2 and we’re already staying at our 2nd campsite.
TJ driving, me navigating and searching for the best places to stay. Not the busy, commercial campsites, we prefer the smaller, family run sites with a bit of charm. In the blink of an eye it feels like we are back in New Zealand, I can’t believe it was nearly 6 years ago that we started that big adventure! Driving through the Bordeaux vineyards, winding roads and beautiful countryside feels just like NZ, we only miss the breathtaking mountains, volcanoes and beautiful, friendly people (nothing against the locals here, they have been very nice!).
We even hooked up the same NZ “driving mix” playlist to the Bluetooth, listening to country music mixed in with Lady GaGa and U2. I’m sure Rose will be adding some of her favourites to the playlist this year, to mix it up even more.
What’s next? It’s only Tuesday and today is a beach day. We’ll see where tomorrow brings us, tomorrow. First, time for tea and croissants!
