It’s ok to have down days, it doesn’t have to always be roses and sunshine. Here it’s the same. Yes it’s a wonderful, likely once in a life time experience, but it’s not always plain sailing.
I’m a professional worrier, or more like a control freak. Most people who know me well enough will know this. Work colleagues definitely, family and close friends too. My Dutch family still laugh at my wedding to do list from 9 years ago 🤣.
So when things don’t go swimmingly I need to fix it, as soon as possible. I’m a huge advocate of “if you don’t like it, do something about it”. That has followed me all of my life….
Here in New Zealand I have as usual 100 things going on in my head. Worrying about money, about the kids school work, are we doing enough fun stuff etc etc. Then of course the unexpected stuff that is sent to challenge us….like the air vent on the caravan blowing off, leaving a 30cm square hole in the roof of our caravan…..bugger…..
However, after some swearing and more worrying (it’s right above the kids beds for $&@# sake), we think of solutions. We don’t have much in the caravan in the way of a tools or spare plastic vents (no idea where the bloody thing blew off to). So TJ hoisted me on top of the caravan in the wind and rain (of course it started raining after 2 weeks of sunshine) and I fixed the bloody hole with a plastic bag and cello tape and any other tape we could find in the first aid box. That did the job until we could get to a shop and buy some good ole duct tape, now it’s sealed off good 👍🏻
We have decided to stay at this beautiful campsite at Haruru waterfall for an extra day, so I could get our sh*t together. Out came an excel spreadsheet to re-calculate our budget (we overspent on the car and caravan but we’ll be ok). I checked up on our school work progress and we are about a half a week behind so we can catch up on that in no time. Sorted. Sometimes it’s good to just stop and take a moment. Now my head is sorted and I’ll have to find something else to worry about 😆
love your honestly in your blogs 🙂 How wonderful that the sky cries with you when things are *%$#@ so yoy won’t need to cry 😉
