The female brain is a wonderful thing. It manages to worry about 20 million different things at the same time, as well as having conversations with it’s self to reassure that everything will be ok in the end. It’s like a constant conversation in my brain. Oh and welcome to my first ever blog by the way. What are we doing? What if nobody likes my blog? What if I start it and it fails and everyone sees? What should I pack? Will we cope in a tiny caravan for a year? What if my kids hate me being their teacher. Oh come on Kelly, it’s going to be amazing, everything will work out. Ah yes come on Kelly chill, you’ve got this. But what if we run out of money? and so on…..
So that’s what is going on right now. We are super super excited about our trip but my brain is working 100 miles an hour trying not to forget everything we need to do. Lists, lists, lists….I’m an expert list maker. Oh and what a nice feeling to draw a line through one of those to do tasks 🙂
The male brain, now that is another species all together. Sure TJ is nervous and we often look at each other with that “oh f*ck there is no going back now!” kind of terrified look (am I allowed to swear on my blog? hope I don’t get reported). But I’m also sure that TJ is not worrying about all the stuff that needs to be done, he just sighs and gets on with it (eventually) when I give him his daily task from my to do list. I know for sure he will pack his bag the morning that we are leaving, and he won’t forget anything and he won’t worry about forgetting anything, because if he has we can buy it there, right?
Anyway, what a load of waffle to start my first ever blog. I have been thinking about what to say in my first blog, try to make it interesting and get people’s attention, but in fact it’s just a bit of a brain dump while I’m sitting here supposed to be getting ready for work (2 days go to eeeeeek!!).
I hope you like my blog, it will be a bit of a diary to keep the memories and to share a bit of our adventure with anyone that is remotely interested. I know my mum will follow me 🙂 . If you want to leave a comment that would be amazing, at least I know somebody is reading! But if not, that is also fine, no pressure honest. Oh and there is a subscription thingy on the home page if you want to subscribe and get notifications…I’m quite proud of that bit (it’s not easy setting up a blog you know!).
We fly to New Zealand on Sunday 4th November, arriving 2 days later. We stop over in Kuala Lumpur for 7 hours to let the kids stretch their legs and also so that they can experience a little bit of Asia before we head further to the other side of the world….the other side of the world!! arrrghhh!
Laters,
Kelly xx

I think what you’re doing for yourselves and for your children is amazing! Every parent should do this for their children. I’m sure they will learn more in the next year than any school could ever teach them. What an adventure and making memories of a lifetime. I look forward to reading your next blog entry (BTW the first one is very good)….who knows maybe this is the start of a good book (just an idea) x
