Southbound….

After more than a month in the Waikato region we are now moving further South in the North Island.  House sitting in Tuakau was really nice, we soon felt at home in Kerry and Vern’s lovely house.  We spent 10 days there, looking after the animals and exploring the area.  The kids loved the swimming pool and me and TJ enjoyed the space, scenery and the peace and quiet!

So now on to the next adventure, I was approached by someone on Facebook who needs some help with their horses in exchange for accommodation.  So we are heading down to Hastings which is on the South-East coast of the North Island.  Looking forward to smelling horses again.

It was quite a drive down to Hastings so we stopped on the way in Taupo and ended up staying the weekend!

Lake Taupo……for the first time ever I actually thought “this is a place I could see us retiring to one day”…..not sure how TJ would feel about that, and Rose and Thijs because they’d have to come too 😁

Just a dream, but wow this place has made me fall in love with New Zealand just a little bit more ❤️

I got up early on Saturday (well 7.30am is early these days) and went to the lake/beach for a run and to do a bit of a workout.  It was stunning.  So still, I was completely alone apart from the few people emerging from their beach houses to stretch their arms and decide whether to do breakfast on their BBQs.

So it was just me and my music and this beach….bloody perfect.

We have spent 2 days here in Taupo, enjoying the beautiful lake and staying on a small campsite literally right next to the beach.  The weather has been scorching!!! Even TJ’s white vest skin is getting some colour 🤣
