Wish you were here…

I wish you were here Mum.  You would love it, lazing around the campsite in the morning while I’m teaching the kids.  No rush, no stress.  Then we’d go for a drive to town or the beach or a waterfall, sit in the shade somewhere while the kids are playing.  Later on when the kids are in bed we’d share a bottle of ice cold wine.

I wish you were here Dad.  You would love all the wildlife, be searching for the bird that makes that wonderful sound or work out if that beautiful flower is wild or in fact a weed.  You’d fix the wonky fridge door and build sandcastles with the kids.

I wish you were here Lutske.  You would talk some sense of my worries, no nonsense, it is like it is.  You’d walk miles on the beach and clean our caravan like a whirlwind 😊. Oh and that bottle of wine? You’d help us drink that too.

I wish you were here Thijs Senior.  You would build us a shed, or a house, or an outside toilet.  In the evening you’d entertain us with music and have us all singing along in no time.

I wish you were here Lisa.  We would sit together in the sun, probably with a cider (or pimms, or vodka….) and we’d complain about our men (we love them really) and laugh at old times (ketchup, dog flap, face slap) ha ha ha

I wish you were here Paola.  We would find a comfy sofa or a bar that sells a nice cocktail and watch the world go by.  Wondering where they are going and what are they wearing? We’d speak Dutch because then you can make fun of my accent 😜

I wish you were here Ariën.  You would bring out that silly smile on my hubby’s face, make fun of him and take him off for a beer or two (or three…).  You’d clomp around in your clogs together and love all the attention it brings.  I miss that cheeky smile 😘

I wish you all could see what we see and experience this with us, I wish we could share this with you.
